1967 – Construction on the largest hospital in the Southern hemisphere
The new hospital in Parow, the largest in the Southern hemisphere, will cost a mammoth R100 million.
It will have 20 main operating rooms, 22 smaller OR’s and beds for more than
1 800 patients.
More than 15 000 people walk through the hospital halls every day.
And listen to this for an almost unbelievable record. The hallways in the hospital stretch for a total of 50km!
Construction on what will be the most modern medical facility in Africa, the brand-new training hospital of the University of Stellenbosch in Tiervlei, is progressing smoothly.

Tydens ‘n gewone werksdag is daar sowat 10 000 mense by die hospitaal.
